Armenian and Georgian presidents discussed regional issues in Yerevan
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili pays an official visit to Armenia. At Zvartnots International Airport, President Zourabichvili was hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze, and other officials.
President Zourabichvili held meetings with the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
At the meeting with Armenian President, Salome Zourabichvili mentioned that Georgia and Armenia agree on many issues, first of all, on the fact that the region which Georgia and Armenia belong to has a great potential for development.
“As emphasized, Georgia recognizes territorial integrity of all states within their internationally recognized borders. Also, Georgia is ready to support the peaceful resolution of the conflict.”, –reported press office of Georgian President.
After the meeting with Armen Sarkissian, the two presidents made joint press statements. According to press office of the Armenian President, Armen Sarkissian stated the following:
“We discussed issues related to the settlement of regional conflicts. We have the same opinion with my Georgian counterpart that issues and conflicts are not identical, therefore the bases for their settlement are not identical as well. Nevertheless, to my personal conviction, solutions should be sought solely on a peaceful basis based on international law and norms and, in the case of Artsakh, on the basis of respect for the right to self-determination”.
